I’m moving in with someone who already has a TV Licence – how do I cancel my licence?

Before you cancel your licence please check you will be covered by the other person's licence. You will normally be covered if the other person is your spouse, partner, family member or joint tenancy or joint mortgage holder. You may still need your TV Licence if you will be a tenant or lodger at the new address. When you contact us to cancel or apply for a refund please make clear your relation to the licence holder.

If you no longer need your licence and have any quarters (3, 6 or 9 months) left on your TV Licence you can apply for a refund online. To just cancel the licence and stop reminder letters please use our contact us form. You can cancel your licence or apply for a refund up to ten days before you move. Please make it clear why you do not require your TV Licence transferred to your new address.
